Q?

What Are the Requirements to Deliver Meals to Seniors?

A.

Meals on Wheels South Florida delivers meal packages to 1,300 homes each week and our dedicated team of volunteers make 80% of these deliveries. Each volunteer delivers meals in the area around their work or home. All of our volunteers currently deliver on a weekday morning. However, we may be able to create a late afternoon or weekend schedule for groups of new volunteers.

Requirements: Your own transportation is required. If you are driving, you must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Light to moderate lifting is required to handle food packages. Criminal and background checks are required for adults 18 years and older. Parental permission is required for children and students under the age of 18.

Substitute Delivery Volunteers are in demand during the summer and holiday vacation seasons. If you cannot make a weekly commitment and are willing to travel, your help is always welcome. To volunteer, call 954.731.8770 or email volunteer@mowsoflo.org.
